What Do We Believe?
The Scriptures
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are truly the Bible—the very Word of God (1 Thessalonians 2:13). We hold that the Bible was fully and perfectly inspired by God, without error or fault in its original form. We also believe God has preserved His Word throughout history, making it entirely trustworthy and fully adequate for guiding faith and life, both now and for eternity (2 Timothy 3:16; Psalm 12:6-8). It stands as the highest authority for the Church.
The Godhead
We affirm that there is one true, eternal, and living God—the Creator of all things—who is infinite in being and flawless in all His ways. The Bible reveals this one God as a Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three distinct persons, equal in essence, eternal in nature, and united in purpose. Each member of the Godhead has full knowledge of all things and actively oversees the world’s events. God permits but does not originate evil; He governs it within His greater redemptive plan (Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
The Person and Work of Christ
We believe Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became fully human without ceasing to be fully God. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, He came to reveal God and redeem sinners (John 1:1-2, 14; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 7:14; Philippians 2:5-8; Galatians 4:4-5). Through His sacrificial death on the cross, He secured our redemption. His literal and bodily resurrection confirms our justification (Romans 3:24-25; 1 Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3-5). Christ is now in Heaven, exalted at God’s right hand, interceding for believers as our High Priest (Acts 1:9-10; Hebrews 7:25; Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:1-2). He will return to earth in person and power to fully establish His Kingdom.
The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8-11). He regenerates sinners, baptizes all believers into the body of Christ, and indwells and seals them until the day of redemption (2 Corinthians 3:6; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 1:13-14). His role is to empower, guide, and teach believers for godly living. We believe the miraculous sign gifts, such as speaking in tongues and healing, were temporary in nature and not normative for the Church today. While God may heal in response to prayer, permanent healing awaits the final resurrection (2 Corinthians 12:12; 1 Corinthians 13:8; Hebrews 2:3-4; 1 Corinthians 14:21-22).
Man
We believe God created mankind in His own image (Genesis 1:26-27). Through Adam’s sin, humanity fell, becoming sinful by nature and separated from God. Humans cannot save themselves or restore their relationship with God by their own efforts (Romans 3:22-23; Ephesians 2:1-3). Each person, however, still bears God’s image and is of great value, which is seen in Christ’s sacrifice for mankind (Psalm 8:4-9; Colossians 3:9-11).
Salvation
We believe salvation comes by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, and not by any human merit or works (Ephesians 2:8-10; John 3:16). Christ’s shed blood is sufficient to save all, but it is effective only for those who believe. Redemption and justification are available only through faith in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Those who trust in Him are born again and become God’s children.
Security of the Believer
We believe that true believers are kept secure in Christ by the power of God (John 10:25-30; 1 Peter 1:5). Assurance of salvation is given to those who place their faith in Jesus and continue to trust in Him. This security is grounded in God’s promises and the believer’s enduring faith (Colossians 1:21-23; Hebrews 3:12-13). Even when believers stumble, God remains faithful to keep them as His own.
The Church
We believe the Church is the body and bride of Christ, composed of all believers from Pentecost to the Rapture (Ephesians 1:22-23; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14). The New Testament outlines the formation and operation of local churches (Acts 14:27; 1 Timothy 3:1-13). Each local church is independent and free from outside control, governed by its own leadership under the guidance of the Holy Spirit (Acts 13:1-4; 1 Peter 5:1-4).
Ordinances of the Church
We believe Christ instituted two primary ordinances for His Church: baptism—by immersion and only for believers—and the Lord’s Supper, open to all born-again believers. Additionally, we practice the washing of the saints’ feet as an act of humility and service (Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 6:3-4; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; John 13:1-17).
Biblical Separation
We believe believers should live in a way that honors Christ and avoids bringing shame to His name. God commands His people to separate from false teachings, ungodly lifestyles, and sinful associations (Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 6:14–7:1; 2 Timothy 3:1-5; 1 John 2:15-17).
Creation
We affirm the literal, historical account of creation in Genesis: that God made the world and mankind in six 24-hour days. We reject evolutionary theory as a man-made idea that undermines Scripture and God’s authority. Evolution promotes a worldview that denies the Creator, His moral standards, and the supernatural events of Scripture (Genesis 1–2). Biblical creation is foundational to Christian belief and incompatible with evolutionary thinking.
The Return of Christ
We believe in the blessed hope—the imminent, personal, visible, premillennial, and pretribulational return of Jesus Christ. He will rapture His Church before the seven-year Tribulation, and after it, He will return with His saints to rule the earth for a thousand years (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Revelation 19:11-16; 20:1-6).
Our Eternal State
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people: the saved to eternal life with God and the lost to eternal punishment (John 5:28-29; Matthew 25:46). Believers who die are immediately with the Lord in conscious joy, awaiting resurrection and glorification (2 Corinthians 5:8; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Unbelievers remain in conscious torment until their final judgment, after which they will be cast into the Lake of Fire to suffer eternal separation from God (Luke 16:19-26; Revelation 20:11-15).
